EuroCIS 2018: Technology Never Sleeps

2017-09-27

The International Future Retail Event from 27 February to 1 March 2018 in Düsseldorf

Business Engine +++ Innovation Tank +++ High-Tech Lab

People living in the early 21st are currently experiencing the fourth industrial revolution. Digitalisation, in particular, entails fundamental changes in all walks of life. Technology never sleeps – technical progress never stops. In retail, too, technology is revolutionising all areas in ever shorter innovation cycles – Digital Information, Conversational Commerce, Mobile Payment, VR, Big Data, IoT, to name but a few. High-tech solutions will become the prerequisite for success also and especially in physical retail because more and more in-depth communication with shoppers – across all channels – will be key for survival. It is these dynamic developments that make EuroCIS so indispensable for exhibitors and visitors alike. Year after year and again from 27 February to 1 March 2018 in Düsseldorf. Over  400 exhibitors and to the tune of 10,500 international trade visitors from the retail segment are expected to attend the leading trade fair for retail technology in Europe during these dates.

At the coming EuroCIS an increasing number of solutions for addressing shoppers in a personalised manner will be on show because shoppers are becoming more demanding and want to be perceived as individuals. Playing a pivotal role in this context are Location Based Services that make it possible to send shoppers offers perfectly tailored to their needs direct to their mobile phones. In general, solutions that “individualise” and personalise products will become more important. Robotics and artificial intelligence are also themes on the rise. Even though the use of humanoids across the board is still a vision, robots can already serve retailers well when it comes to picking, replenishing shelves and taking stock. These are just some examples of the latest developments in retail technology. At EuroCIS the entire spectrum of IT solutions specifically geared to retail needs can be found: from omni-channel management, business analytics, payment systems and cash management to e-Commerce/e-Business solutions and from ERP/supply chain management, mobile solutions & technologies, POS software/hardware and checkout management through to digital marketing/digital signage, workforce management, loss prevention, article surveillance, weighing technology, food service and the IoT.

Direct practical relevance is also ensured because both the EuroCIS Forum and the Omnichannel Forum will feature current case studies, innovations and trends, presented by exhibitors and their customers in tandem (bilingual D/GB). Furthermore, trade visitors will have the opportunity to take 90-minute “Guided Innovation Tours” (D/GB). Organised by Planet Retail these tours focus on start-ups and companies with innovative product and process solutions.

Last but not least, the presentation of the coveted retail technology awards europe (reta europe) by the EHI Retail Institute will be a highlight in the programme of side events supporting EuroCIS 2017. These awards recognise the excellent and innovative use of information technology in retail. In addition to this, the “Wissenschaftspreis Handel” will be presented jointly by EHI and GS1 during EuroCIS. This prize is awarded for outstanding scientific works that pick up on innovative ideas and facilitate their transposition in retail.

Exhibitors can register online at www.eurocis.com/2330. Stand space allocation has begun in September 2017.
